Here is how to add page numbers in Word, the alternative method. This is not an issue, as there's a way to work around this, that only takes a few extra clicks. If the previous method had failed, this is usually because there already is some content that exists within the header or footer of your page.
Press the mouse button and move downward to select the rest of the cells in the column (see image).How to Add Page Numbers in Word - When a Header/Footer Already Exists ♦ If the table does contain one or more header rows, place the cursor inside the top data row until you see a smaller angled arrow. Alternately, you can right-click in any cell in the column and choose Select, then Column from the right-click menu.
